Copter Crash Kills 2 China Officials, 3 Israelis
A helicopter taking Chinese officials on a tour struck a power line over the Negev Desert and burst into flames Wednesday, killing all five people aboard.
Two visiting Chinese officials and three Israelis were killed in the crash near the southern city of Beersheba, officials said.
The Chinese victims were identified as Wu Disheng, 58, mayor of Shenyang, capital of Liaoning province in northeast China, and Zhang Li, deputy chairwoman of a Shenyang development committee.
They and 20 Chinese business people were in Israel this week as guests of the Industry Ministry. Plans to sign a commercial agreement Wednesday were canceled because of the accident.
