Perceptronics Inc., a Woodland Hills maker of computer-simulation software and systems for the military, said it won a $1-million contract to develop software for the Advanced Research Projects Agency, a Defense Department group that supports basic research and technology development.

The contract is part of a development program awarded to the Hughes Santa Barbara Research Center, a subsidiary of Hughes Aircraft Co. Perceptronics said its role in the program would involve applying its software technology to reducing the time it takes to design products and lowering manufacturing costs.
