PRO FOOTBALL DAILY REPORT : RAMS : Tollner, Aztecs Will Meet Again

Ram quarterback Coach Ted Tollner plans to meet today with San Diego State Athletic Director Fred Miller about the Aztec’s vacant head coaching job.

Tollner, who coached four seasons at USC, met with Miller Tuesday night after Miller fired Al Luginbill. A former San Diego State assistant and offensive coordinator with the San Diego Chargers (1989-91), Tollner said he’s excited about the prospect of becoming a head coach again.

The Rams released cornerback Sam Seale on Wednesday. . . . Coach Chuck Knox said there’s a possibility that cornerback Mitchell Price, acquired Tuesday, might return punts. . . . Center Bern Brostek sat out practice because of a sore toe. . . . Guard Leo Goeas (knee) and wide receiver Ernie Jones (knee) are listed as probable for Sunday’s game against the Phoenix Cardinals at Phoenix. Guard Tom Newberry (knee), tackle Jackie Slater (torn pectoral muscle) and Pat Terrell (pinched nerve in neck) are listed as questionable.
