SOUTH-CENTRAL : Suspect in Fatal Drive-By Shooting Surrenders
An alleged South-Central Los Angeles gang member wanted for killing a 14-year-old bystander in a drive-by shooting in October surrendered to police Thursday.
Wendell Allen Carter, 25, who faces a murder charge and two counts of attempted murder, walked into the Southwest Division station about 1 p.m. after a noontime television newscast showed his picture. He was being held in lieu of $1-million bail.
Arrianna Rodriguez, 14, was standing with two others in the 1200 block of West 36th Place when a passenger in a car fired at them Oct. 11, killing her with a gunshot to the head. Eric Gibson, 25, was wounded and Regina Collins, 25, escaped unharmed.
“I can finally lay my daughter to rest now that they got this man. I can rest too,” Arrianna’s mother, Deborah Rodriguez, said Thursday.
