Debate Over Debate

Share

I think it is a disgrace that no major network or local station aired the Perot-Gore debate (Nov. 9, CNN). The networks all seem to find the debate worthy of talking about after the real, live, total event is finished. Do they think people who watch TV can only understand an issue if “experts” give opinions of snatches of the real thing? An interesting culture we live in.

Tune-in Disaster Channel

After watching the devastating fire coverage off and on for two days, I can say it was truly a tragedy. However, I was appalled by the constant TV coverage. Do the stations think that most people want to watch this all day long on every channel? I think they are, as usual, preying on people’s misfortunes. Why don’t the “Merchants of Chaos” create a special channel on TV called “The Disaster Channel” and be done with it.

Where’s R.J.’s Hart?

Your TV Times magazine cover (Nov. 6) of Robert Wagner and Stefanie Powers heralded the good news of the “Harts” return. But, in the interview with Wagner, he talks about the original series. “No one wanted to come to dinner with the Harts because they were going to get killed.” He continues ungraciously to say, “It got like Angela Lansbury in ‘Murder, She Wrote’.”

He should be so lucky! Shame, R.J.
