LA PALMA : Council to Consider Limiting Garage Sales
The City Council will consider an ordinance tonight that would limit garage sales to two a year for each home.
Neighborhood complaints about “unsightly” advertising signs and increased traffic created by local garage sales prompted the drafting of the proposed ordinance, City Manager Pamela Gibson said. Also, some residents have been conducting garage sales almost on a weekly basis, according to city officials.
The proposed ordinance would require any resident planning a garage sale to obtain a $7 city permit. The fee is based on the estimated 15 minutes city staff would need to process a permit application.
If the council decides to include the fee as part of the ordinance, it will hold a formal public hearing on the matter Jan. 4, Gibson said.
