New Image Industries Sued in Patent Case

High Tech Medical Instrumentation Inc. of Santa Rosa has filed a lawsuit against New Image Industries Inc., alleging that certain features of the Canoga Park company’s dental intra-oral camera infringes a patent held by High Tech.

The suit was filed Nov. 23 in a Bay Area federal court, according to attorney Steven Akerley, whose law firm represents High Tech. The suit focuses on New Image’s AcuCam intra-oral camera, a pen-sized camera that is one of New Image’s main products. Roger Leddington, New Image’s chief executive officer, said he believed the suit is without merit.
