The Santa Ana computer company reported third-quarter profit of $115,000, or 4 cents a share, down 56% from $261,000, or 9 cents a share, for the like period last year. The company attributed the earnings decline to foreign currency losses and increased research and development expenses. Revenue for the quarter ended Nov. 28 declined to $10.4 million from $10.8 million. Year-to-date profit totaled $234,000, or 8 cents a share. For the comparable nine months last year, the company recorded a loss of $4 million, or $1.34 a share, which included a restructuring expense of $2.7 million related to the closure of certain operations and facilities. Sales dropped 17%, to $29.5 million from $35.5 million.
