Behind The Scenes : Landlubbers Chart a New Course for Kids

About 450 supporters of children’s causes boarded the S.S. Sporting Club at Lakeshore Towers in Irvine on Saturday to party, play roulette and raise funds to benefit the Thurston Middle School, which was partially destroyed in the Laguna Beach fire, the Daniel Molinaro Foundation, which aids in the research and treatment of childhood diseases, and the California Council of the Blind.

The super sports club was transformed into a holiday cruise ship, with each floor named after a deck. The second floor Lido Deck stayed the busiest all evening, with a full casino and an international buffet.

Decked out in their finest, these fantasy travelers grooved to the reggae sounds of Urban Fire and the pop covers of the Cody Bryant Band, taking a breather only to bid in a silent auction, including a real seven-day cruise of the Malay Peninsula.
