Corporate Giving
The kind of corporate philanthropy that Alison Winter wrote about (“In Hard Times, Giving Is Surviving,” Commentary, Dec. 15) became a happy reality this month when the employees of CTL Environmental Services, Harbor City, volunteered to treat and accompany 65 of the blind and visually impaired youth from Foundation for the Junior Blind programs to a holiday excursion to Disneyland, and for pizza afterward.
We work hard all year to provide unique experiences that excite all the senses, encourage our youngsters and include them in mainstream activities. When a company like CTL offers to make this outing their employee holiday celebration, they buoy our year-round effort and create special, personal connections. In this case, a single corporate effort yields the best kind of dividends for all. Imagine if this were multiplied all over Southern California.
