BET, Blockbuster to Form Film Venture: Video giant Blockbuster Entertainment Co. and the cable channel that specializes in programs for African-Americans said the joint venture will be called BET Pictures. The venture will fund, produce and distribute black family-oriented films. The two companies will work to develop low-cost films. BET will be managing partner, with BET handling pay-per-view opportunities and Blockbuster working on the home video releases.
