Two men involved in a scheme that used a phony automated teller machine to steal customers’ secret bank account codes and withdraw their money were sentenced to 2 1/2 years in federal prison. Gerald Harvey Greenfield, 50, of Tucson and Alan Scott Pace, 30, of New York pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court to bank fraud and producing counterfeit ATM cards. Authorities believe the two masterminded a scam in which a phony ATM was placed in a suburban Hartford shopping mall.
