Microsemi Posts 67% Profit Gain in Fiscal ’93

Microsemi Corp., the Santa Ana supplier of semiconductor chips, posted a 67% gain in profit for fiscal 1993 over the previous year to $3 million, or 39 cents a share, from $1.8 million, or 24 cents a share.

The fiscal 1993 figure included a gain of $1.3 million from an accounting change. Revenue for the 12 months ended Oct. 3 rose to $123.8 million from $88.7 million. An acquisition completed in July, 1992, accounted for $18.3 million of the revenue increase.

For the fourth quarter, profit totaled $950,000, or 12 cents a share, on sales of $29.8 million. That compares with a profit of $413,000, or 5 cents a share, on sales of $28.9 million for the like period a year ago. The fiscal 1992 fourth-quarter net earnings included extraordinary income of $316,000 or 4 cents per share, from net operating loss carry-forward benefits.
