OJAI : Los Padres to Charge for Golden Passport

Share

Visitors to Los Padres National Forest and all of the nation’s forests who are 62 and over will soon have to pay $10 for a Golden Age Passport, a previously free card that entitles holders to discounts on camping fees, entrance charges and other recreation fees.

Disabled visitors are still entitled to a free Golden Access card, which offers the same discounts, said Juanita Freel, spokeswoman for Los Padres National Forest.

Interested people must go to the Forest Service office in Goleta or other branch offices, including one in Ojai, to obtain the passports. They cannot be obtained through the mail, she said.
