MCI Sells Infonet Stake, Cites British Telecom Deal: MCI Communications Corp. said it sold its 25% interest in Infonet Services Corp., an international data network, in preparation for its alliance with British Telecommunications. Under an agreement announced in June, British Telecom would pay $4.3 billion for 20% of Washington-based MCI, which, in turn, would buy British Telecom’s North American operations. These include the Tymnet computer data network, which competes with El Segundo-based Infonet. MCI spokeswoman Pam Small said the British Telecom alliance is “still on track” to be completed in mid-1994. MCI would not give the price it received for its 2,600 shares of Infonet.
