Malibu : Advice on Fire Insurance
Malibu fire victims looking for advice on the processing of insurance claims are invited to a Jan. 12 workshop on the subject sponsored by the state Department of Insurance and the city of Malibu.
In the workshop, to be held at Pepperdine University’s Stauffer Chapel from 7 to 9 p.m., Insurance Commissioner John Garamendi and department specialists will help residents determine the extent of their coverage, understand the claims and rebuilding process, and protect their rights under unfair claims regulations. Officials encourage all residents who sustained fire damage to attend.
A comprehensive guide to the claims process will also be distributed free of charge. No presentations or solicitations from contractors, public adjusters, insurance companies or agents will be made at the workshop.
