The State of Irvine’s State of the Art: State of the Art Inc. said Friday it will post a loss for the fourth quarter after charging off about $4 million in software development costs. The maker of accounting software said some of the costs of developing the MacP&L; and P&L; For Windows programs will be written off because “recent technology and competitive changes in the computer software market” have made the development costs worthless.
