Howard to Chair Board of Supervisors
In a change of command for the new year, Ventura County Supervisor Vicky Howard on Tuesday was named chairwoman of the board for 1994.
Howard, who served as the board’s assistant chairwoman last year, will replace Susan K. Lacey in the leadership position.
Every January, the supervisors rotate one of their colleagues into the slot. Howard will be responsible for making sure that the meetings are conducted in an orderly fashion.
“I think I will enjoy it,” said Howard, who has served on the board since 1990. “I always enjoy challenges.”
Meanwhile, Supervisor Maria E. VanderKolk was named assistant chairwoman and will fill in for Howard when she is absent.
“I hope you’re sick at least once,” VanderKolk laughingly told Howard.
