Beverly Hills : School Paper Wins Award
Highlights, the weekly newspaper produced by students at Beverly Hills High School, was honored by the National Scholastic Press Assn. as one of the best student newspapers in the country.
For the 23rd year in a row, the paper received top ratings for content, writing, editing and layout.
Adviser Gil Chesterton said fewer than 10% of the high school papers evaluated by the University of Minnesota-based press association earn the top ranking. Although many high school papers have folded because of shrinking budgets, Chesterton said Highlights survives in part from student-generated advertising revenue.
