Come On, Just Give Us a Hint . . .
The Cold War has been declared over, but Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory apparently still believes in the wartime adage, “Loose lips sink ships.”
The lab, one of two national centers for design of nuclear weapons, late last year received a prestigious award from the CIA and the National Security Agency. The Intelligence Community Seal Medallion, presented to the “Project Woodpecker” team, is on display at the lab, east of San Francisco in Livermore.
Problem is, Lawrence Livermore can’t say what it’s for. As one lab engineer lamented: “We’re trying to get it declassified so we can talk about it.”
