Associated Press
NICOSIA, Cyprus —
Iran’s spiritual leader, the Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, on Sunday pardoned or cut the sentences of 2,389 prisoners, Tehran Television reported.
The television did not give the length of sentences being served or the severity of the crimes for which pardons were issued.
The pardons were granted, in accordance with tradition, to mark the anniversary in the Islamic religion of the revelation of God’s mission to the Prophet Mohammed.
