Malibu Comics Sells Stake to Animation Firm
- Share via
Malibu Comics Entertainment Inc., a Westlake Village comic book publisher and video game developer, has sold a minority interest in the company to Worldwide Sports & Entertainment Inc., a Denver animation firm.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Malibu said the alliance with Worldwide Sports would aid its expansion into interactive compact-disc games, which require sophisticated animation. Malibu currently has CD projects for Sega and Nintendo systems based on Malibu’s Ultraverse comic books.
Worldwide Sports is part of the Malaysia-based Excorp Group of entertainment companies and has an animation studio in the Philippines. Among the shows it produces is the new Fox TV series “Biker Mice From Mars.”
