Building Up Appetites: Birtcher Construction Ltd. in Laguna Niguel recently released “The Groundbreaking Gourmet,” a collection of recipes collected by the Birtcher families and company employees. The 103-page cookbook, which was recently distributed to all employees, is now handed out as a corporate gift. “We decided on a cookbook because we had pot lucks once in awhile and several people were always asked to bring the same things because so many people liked them,” said Julie Majors, an administrative assistant at Birtcher. Ron Birtcher, whose grandfather founded the company, contributed the dessert recipe for “Drunk Bananas,” and the recipe for “Scrambled Eggs Legend,” which includes ingredients such as caviar and chopped scallions. The book will not be available in stores, but employees can purchase extra copies for about $13.
