LOS ANGELES COUNTY : Agencies Get $200,000 to Help Stop Drunk Driving

The Peace Officers Assn. of Los Angeles County has been awarded a $200,000 grant to coordinate task forces to fight drunk driving.

The grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety is being used to track and organize the efforts of 50 law enforcement agencies that provide traffic services in the county, project coordinator Jan Nichols said.

One operation was conducted from Dec. 22 to Jan. 2, and others are planned for Memorial Day weekend, July 4, Labor Day and the winter holiday season, Nichols said.
