Claire McNair Dies; Rites to Be Friday

Claire MacDonald McNair, former president of the Children’s Home Society and board member of the Orange County Mental Health Assn. and other groups, died Tuesday. She was 69.

Memorial services will be held at Chapman University Chapel in Orange at 11:30 a.m. Friday.

A resident of Orange County for 30 years, Mrs. McNair was president of Chapman University’s Town and Gown Society. She was also a founder of a group that has held fund-raising auctions for Western Medical Center.

She also was board chairman of the local Multiple Sclerosis Society and a founding member of the associates for the advancement of nursing science and research for UCI Medical Center.

“She’s always been an inspiration,” said her daughter, Cheri Ball. “She was always positive and always cared about people. She was always giving of herself. She was a very loving lady. In the 30 years that she’s been in Orange, she just never stopped giving. And she always had time for her family.”

Mrs. McNair owned a dress shop in Tustin.

She is survived by a son, Joel of Virginia; two sisters, Peggy Wright of Mission Viejo and Leslie Wilson of Tustin, and a brother, Clifford McDonald of Virginia.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Orange County Chapter of the Multiple Sclerosis Society.
