Nation IN BRIEF : GEORGIA : 8 Youths Arrested in Police Crackdown

Eight teen-agers were in custody after a wave of violent crimes--ranging from murder to kidnaping and armed robbery--forced police to stage a crackdown in Decatur, a suburban Atlanta community. Among those arrested were three juveniles, aged 14, 15 and 16, who are being held in the carjacking slaying of a 41-year-old man as he was driving to a local pharmacy. The three were described by police as gang “wannabes.”
