Right-wing extremists and anti-fascist youths clashed Saturday at an east London underground train station, witnesses said.

Police said 10 people were arrested during battles at East Ham station believed to be between supporters of the Anti-Nazi League and right-wing skinheads.

A spokeswoman said police also held about 100 left-wing youths at Bow Road, another underground station in east London, to prevent them from boarding trains thought to be carrying right-wingers. They would be allowed to disperse later.
