Actress JOAN COLLINS has sold her Beverly Hills home of seven years for just under $2 million, sources say.
Collins, who was in more than 50 movies and 30 TV series before she became known as the “beauteous bitch” Alexis Carrington Colby on the nighttime TV soap “Dynasty,” first put the house on the market in 1989 at $6 million.
“She spends a lot of time in Europe, so there is no need for her to have such a big spread here,” said listing broker Paris Moskopoulos of Paris Realty, Beverly Hills.
Collins, 60, has homes in London, New York and Saint Tropez, sources say. “But she is thinking of buying a pied-a-terre here, where she has some projects,” Moskopoulos said.
The actress, also a best-selling novelist, appeared on TV last January in a guest role as Roseanne Arnold’s British cousin. Last August, Collins reached a settlement for an undisclosed amount in a $20-million invasion-of-privacy lawsuit against a tabloid.
The home that Collins sold was built on a 1.6-acre knoll in the mid-1960s by late British actor Laurence Harvey. The one-story, 7,500-square-foot home was later owned by late comedienne Totie Fields.
After Collins bought it, she redecorated it, creating an all-pink master bath and other “Dynasty”-like features. “It’s very dramatic, all marble and white,” a former listing broker has said. The seven-bedroom home has views from nearly every room plus a mirrored bar, two-story guest house and fountain.
Collins leased out the home twice at $50,000 a month--once to actor Paul Hogan for nearly four months, sources say. The rest of the time, Collins used it, said Moskopoulos, who is retiring after many years as a Beverly Hills realtor.
“I will be going back and forth to Greece, where I was born and spent 18 years as an actor,” he said. He plans to continue his sideline of chartering yachts as a business there.
Bruce Nelson of John Bruce Nelson & Associates represented the buyer, described as “a local banker” who had been living in Palos Verdes.
Longtime “General Hospital” heartthrob STEVE BOND and his wife, CINDY, have put their Hidden Hills home on the market at $2.5 million.
“They built the home in 1990 and are selling now because they want to build another house in the area,” said listing agent R. J. Thompson of Prudential Rodeo Realty in Woodland Hills.
Bond, who also starred in the soap “Santa Barbara,” built a five-bedroom house; tennis court and lagoon pool with a waterfall on his 2.5-acre estate. An avid polo player, he also built stables and a riding arena.
Los Angeles developer ALEXANDER COLER, who filed for bankruptcy last year, has dropped the asking prices on his Palm Springs homes by $1 million each.
One of the homes, which he built in the 1980s, is on 18.5 acres and has a 10,000-square-foot main house, 6,000-square-foot guest house, 52-foot-long swimming pool, sunken tennis court and three-green, nine-hole golf course. It’s now priced at $4.45 million.
His other home is on four acres and has a 7,000-square-foot main house, built in 1928; two guest houses and a pool house. The home was owned for many years by late oil tycoon Arthur Cameron, who was married to actress Ann Miller. It’s priced at $2.95 million.
Both estates, which are in the old Las Palmas area of town--settled by movie stars and industrialists--are listed with Vic Domines, president of Bayside Investment Realty, a division of Bayside Financial Corp. in Mission Viejo.
Speaking of Coler . . . his Beverly Hills house, once listed at $32.5 million but sold in a court-ordered sale last fall for $11.5 million, is back on the market at $30 million.
Youri Fadayev, the young Russian banker who bought the house last November in a spirited bidding war with prices leaping as much as $500,000 at a time, has re-listed it with Bruce Nelson of John Bruce Nelson & Associates and Dan Cristo of Gilleran, Griffin.
The 12-bedroom, 37,000-square-foot home, which Coler built in 1988, has two bowling lanes, a cut-crystal dining-room floor looking down to an indoor pool, and a tennis court.
Former “Night Court” writer/producer KEVIN KELTON has purchased a four-story home in the hills of Sherman Oaks for more than $1 million below the original asking price of $1.5 million, sources say.
Kelton, whose TV credits include writing for Eddie Murphy and Billy Crystal during two seasons with “Saturday Night Live,” bought the 5,000-square-foot house, built four years ago but never occupied until now, for an estimated quarter of its $1.7-million assessed value.
The house, which has an elevator and panoramic Valley views, had been listed with Roy Sulka of Jon Douglas Co.’s Encino office.
