LAGUNA HILLS : City, School District Pair for Use of Space
Short of land and locations for parks and sports facilities, the city approved an agreement last week to work with the Saddleback Valley Unified School District on improving recreational and cultural amenities for the city’s residents.
At their respective meetings last Tuesday, the City Council and the district’s Board of Trustees approved a resolution pledging mutual cooperation.
The resolution states that both entities recognize that “there is a shortage of land available to provide recreational and other cultural opportunities for district students and residents of Laguna Hills” and that the city and district desire to maximize those opportunities “through more efficient use of available space.”
The city, which fits inside the 93-square-mile school district’s boundaries, recently began construction on Cabot Park in the Nellie Gail Ranch subdivision. The new park will give residents of the 2-year-old city their first baseball and soccer fields.
