Irish Firm Seeks to Acquire Disease Detection of Irvine

Share

Disease Detection International Inc. said Monday that an Irish firm that is the largest single shareholder of the biomedical company wants to acquire it outright.

Disease Detection, which makes products that detect sexually transmitted and other infectious diseases, would not reveal details of the proposal by Trinity Biotech PLC in Dublin other than that it would involve a stock swap.

Trinity, a Disease Detection licensee, owns 50% of the Irvine company’s common stock and all of its preferred shares, giving it 67% of the firm’s outstanding votes.
