Former Cal State Fullerton volleyball Coach Jim Huffman’s $1.2 million wrongful termination suit against the school went to trial, with jurors hearing attorneys’ opening statements and testimony from Titan women’s gymnastics Coach Lynn Rogers in Orange County Superior Court.

Huffman claims his firing in 1992 was in retaliation “because he spoke out about illegalities in the CSUF athletic department and initiated successful (gender equity) legal proceedings, which resulted in negative publicity to the school and its administrators.”

Defense attorney Kevin Gerry will argue that Huffman was let go because of poor performance.
