Cheating Is Common
According to the 24th annual survey of high achievers conducted by Who’s Who Among American High School Students, 80% of the teens interviewed said cheating is common in their school.
Seventy-eight percent of about 500 teens interviewed added that they themselves have cheated. The most common form of cheating, according to the survey, is copying someone else’s homework. Of the teens interviewed, all of whom are considered high achievers, 67% admitted to copying homework; 14% admitted to plagiarizing part of an essay.
A reason teens cheat, according to the survey, is self-imposed pressure and pressure from parents to do well in school.
