RTC and Minorities

* Re Ron Harris’ column on the meeting between “black business types” and the Resolution Trust Corp., Jan. 14: Truth is, dealing with the RTC is tough for nearly everybody; I’m quite sure the race of a prospective buyer of an RTC property is not a factor in the evaluation of a particular purchase offer. A prospective vendor of services to the RTC would, however, receive favored consideration (“bonus points”) if minority-owned.
As a real estate agent I have represented African American, Latino, Asian and Caucasian buyers in the purchase of bank-owned apartments and commercial property. Never has the race of the buyer been any factor in any transaction.
