A group of investors will move the National Broadcasters Hall of Fame and Museum here from New Jersey this spring, the executive director of the Anaheim Chamber of Commerce said Tuesday.

The museum will be housed in Anaheim Stadium next to the Orange County Sports Hall of Fame, said the chamber’s Allan B. Hughes.

The center will honor nearly 70 broadcasters and will contain vintage radios, microphones and other early radio equipment. There will also be tapes of old radio shows, as well as old photographs of radio personalities.

Among the many early recordings that will be available to the public are: “The Eddie Cantor Hour,” “The Shadow” and “The Lone Ranger.”

City spokesman Bret Colson said a briefing on the facility will be held Friday. Until then, he declined to comment about the center.

“I think this (museum) will add to the prestige of Anaheim,” Hughes said.

The National Broadcasters Hall of Fame and Museum was started in 1977 in Freehold, N.J., by Arthur S. Schreiber. That museum was closed several years ago.

Schreiber and other investors are backing the Anaheim venture. Schreiber could not be reached for comment late Tuesday.
