GM Posts Record Sales in Latin America: The auto maker said sales rose 28% in 1993 to 402,000 vehicles, the most in any year since 1980. “Despite the onslaught of new competition in the region . . . GM’s market share in Latin America, at 18%, was about even with 1992, and it remains the area of GM’s highest (foreign) market penetration,” said Richard C. Nerod, General Motors Corp. vice president for Latin America, Africa and the Middle East.
