BRIEFS : El Monte Pace Store Becomes Sam’s Club

Sam’s Club, a division of Wal-Mart Stores, has acquired the Pace Warehouse at 4901 N. Santa Anita Ave. in El Monte and reopened the store Jan. 14 as one of its own. Sam’s Club officials said Pace members automatically become Sam’s Club members, and the estimated 140 Pace employees may keep their jobs at the same pay. One of the nation’s largest membership-only warehouse clubs, Sam’s Club recently bought 92 other Pace Warehouse centers across the nation. Pace Membership Warehouse is a subsidiary of K mart Corp.
