The company announced Monday that it has been awarded a $1-million contract to manufacture a new generation of solid-state data recorders for WorldView Imaging Corp.

The recorders will be used in a WorldView satellite, scheduled to launch in 1995, and will provide detailed images of the earth for use in mapping, geographic information systems, environmental planning and urban planning applications. WorldView is based in Livermore.

The Odetics recorders store information using computer memory chips, instead of the customary tape recording. Deliveries are scheduled to begin before the end of 1994.
