Micropolis Corp., a Chatsworth maker of computer disk drives, reported a fourth-quarter loss of $6 million in contrast to a profit of $4.8 million for the same quarter a year earlier. For all of 1993, Micropolis posted a net loss of $19.9 million. In 1992 the company made a profit of $19.6 million.

Sales in the latest quarter ended Dec. 31 dropped 1% to $90.4 million, from $91.5 million a year earlier. For all of 1993, sales totaled $382.9 million, down 3% from $396.6 million in 1992.

Earnings in 1993 were hurt partly by restructuring charges. The company added that it expected to see difficulties in the first quarter of this year. Plus Micropolis said the first quarter’s results will include charges of up to $1 million related to the recent earthquake.
