Ronald E. Etheridge; Led Santa Barbara Schools
Ronald E. Etheridge, superintendent of schools for Santa Barbara until illness forced him to resign last year, died of leiomyo sarcoma Jan. 23 after battling that rare form of cancer for three years. He was 51 and died in Santa Barbara.
Etheridge came to Southern California in 1991 from Columbus, Ohio, where he had been school superintendent.
Earlier in Virginia, his native state, he had been an educator and administrator.
