WESTMINSTER : Salary, Outline OKd for 2 Fire Positions
The City Council has unanimously approved the job description and salary range for two management positions in the Fire Department.
For assistant fire chief, the council approved a salary of $6,477 to $7,825 per month. For division chief of administration and fire prevention, the salary range is from $6,214 to $7,249 monthly.
The two new positions were created as part of the reorganization of the Fire Department, which the council approved last year.
The assistant fire chief will handle general operations, attend to personnel matters including discipline, and serve as acting fire chief in the absence of the fire chief.
The administration and fire prevention division chief will coordinate the department’s training, paramedic services and administration of clerical employees. In addition, he or she will be in charge of fire prevention programs and fire investigations.
Fire Chief John T. DeMonaco Jr. said that the positions likely will be filled by current department employees but that outsiders will also be considered.
