O.C. Computer Firms Enter Multimedia

Share

Multimedia computers are in vogue for computer manufacturers looking to boost revenues. On Monday, two Orange County computer makers launched low-priced PCs that can run multimedia software, which combines text, audio, video and graphics in a single presentation.

Advanced Logic Research Inc. in Irvine said it will sell its Multimedia Express computer for $1,995. Meanwhile, Canon Computer Systems Inc. in Costa Mesa said it has launched its Innova Vision multimedia desktop computer as well as six other computer models. Both companies say their machines sport the latest in multimedia equipment, including speakers, CD-ROM drives, monitors and sound cards.

The Innova Vision will sell for an estimated $1,850 to $1,950. Consumers have been buying machines with the extra multimedia components in about half of their new PC purchases now that prices have tumbled.
