OAK PARK : Stark, Fredericks Out of Supervisor Race

Ronald Stark and J. Paul Fredericks, both members of the Oak Park Municipal Advisory Council, said Monday they are bowing out of the race for the Ventura County supervisorial seat being vacated by Maria VanderKolk.

“I’d love to try it,” said Stark, who along with Fredericks had taken out nomination papers to run. “But I just don’t think it’s realistic. . . . I would feel bad to have people contribute to a campaign that I know had no chance of winning.”

Stark said he will support Thousand Oaks Councilman Frank Schillo in the June 7 election. Fredericks said he will probably do the same. Both said they plan to consult with Schillo about his candidacy later this month.

In addition to Schillo, three candidates remain in the race for the supervisorial seat representing the Conejo Valley and Port Hueneme. They are former Ventura County Supervisor Madge L. Schaefer, taxpayer advocate H. Jere Robings and corrections officer David Goodman.
