VENTURA : House Torched by Electric Blanket Fire
A fire caused by an electric blanket nearly destroyed a Ventura house Monday afternoon, but none of the six people at home were injured, said a spokesman for the Ventura County Fire Department.
The house, located at 5382 Norway Drive, was engulfed in flames within seconds after a short circuit occurred in one of the bedroom’s electrical blankets.
The fire, which was put out within 25 minutes, caused more than $35,000 in damage and left the house uninhabitable, officials said.
