Imprisoning Addicts

Share

* (President) Clinton’s “three strikes you’re out” policy will be another straw that will help to eventually break the camel’s back, which is the prison system. The system is already underfunded.

Is it true that it costs around $40,000 per year to keep a man in prison?

The solution is to keep them out of prison!

A huge percentage of violent crime is caused by gangs protecting their sales territory for illegl drugs.

Addicts also have to steal to pay the high prices caused by the black market.

If we eliminate that black market, the crime will stop.

This is about freedom. If somebody wants to to kill themselves with drugs, they should be free to do it.

Judge (James) Gray and many others are in agreement on this point. Educated people are pro-legalization, not the typical pot-smoking drug addict.

We need solutions, not dead-end prison terms.

It was refreshing to see your editorial a while ago. An open mind and a basic view of the facts will show the folly of maintaining a hugely profitable black market.
