The Westlake Village City Council is scheduled to debate a salary increase for City Manager Ray Taylor at its regular council meeting tonight at 7:30 at 4373 Park Terrace Drive.

Taylor, who has worked for the city for about a year, now earns $80,000 per year. Mayor Doug Yarrow said he supports the proposal to raise Taylor’s salary to $84,000 per year.

“It’s a reflection of the absolutely superior job Ray is doing for our city,” said Yarrow. “He very quickly tackled pressing issues of budget, established a two-year cycle for budget, identified pressing fiscal needs of city, and has quickly assimilated into the community.”

Taylor, 44, is former manager of the city of Malibu. Before that, he served as city manager in Rolling Hills Estates near Redondo Beach, and in several administrative positions in Simi Valley. He grew up near Sacramento and has a master’s degree in public administration from Cal State Chico.

Taylor moved to Westlake Village with his family after accepting the job as city manager. Yarrow said he believes that Taylor has settled in town for the duration, but added “we don’t want him to leave.”
