Hong Kong Fears Hotel Room Shortage: The government is considering zoning specific sites for hotels to combat the looming shortage. “The government will consider, as never done in the past, whether we should actually identify sites most suitable for hotels and zone them for that use,” Planning Secretary Tony Eason said. Developers and investors have begun ripping down some of the territory’s major hotels to make way for more lucrative office towers, sparking concern in the tourism industry.
