PerfectData Reports Loss in 3rd Quarter

PerfectData Corp., a maker of computer and office-care products, reported losses in its latest quarter, and nine months, on lower revenue.

The company blamed the results on inventory write-downs, a restructuring of its sales organization, and costs of new product development.

In its fiscal third quarter ended Dec. 31, PerfectData lost $141,000, in contrast with a year-earlier profit of $102,000. Revenue fell 12%, to $1.7 million from $1.92 million.

For the nine months, the company reported a loss of $297,000, while its revenue dropped 9%, to $5.19 million. A year before, it earned $342,000 on $5.72 million in revenue.
