Supervisors Caving In
I can remember the “good old days” when Hoot Bennett, John Conlan, Tom Laubacher, Frank Jewett and a few others--who didn’t depend upon a county paycheck for their livelihood--used to make decisions based on what was good for the majority of people living in the county.
In the last few years, it seems as if the majority of our Board of Supervisors has caved in to the Ojai squeaky wheels on more issues than I care to remember, starting with Petrochem (ensuring the demise of the local oil industry), the Sespe Creek study, Taylor Ranch college site, Weldon Canyon Landfill and now the state-of-the-art Doppler radar that is very much needed to predict weather.
Personal political best interest and perpetuation of incumbency are in charge of county government policy.
It is way past time for term limits.
