Dr. Brigid G. Leventhal; Pediatric Cancer Specialist

Dr. Brigid G. Leventhal, 58, nationally recognized pediatric oncologist. Born in London, the former Brigid Gray moved to Los Angeles as a child and graduated from Hollywood High School and UCLA, where she studied psychology. She earned her medical degree from Harvard University. After a decade working in chemoimmunotherapy at the National Cancer Institute in Bethesda, Md., she went to Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, where she became the first director of the Pediatric Oncology Division. She served as president of Women in Cancer Research and was a board member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology and the American Assn. of Cancer Research. On Feb. 6 in Columbia, Md., of cancer.
