NATION IN BRIEF : NATIONWIDE : London Clinic to Offer Abortion Pill
The Marie Stopes Health Clinic in London said it has won British Health Department approval for American women to use the RU-486 abortion pill, but they will have to buy a plane ticket to London and pay a $500 fee to do it. Anti-abortion groups called the decision a public relations stunt designed to promote what they see as a potentially dangerous pill and to force it on the U.S. market. But abortion-rights advocates hailed the decision as a major victory for women who want abortions but do not want to undergo a possibly dangerous surgical procedure.
